Lay-Z-Spa vs Intex: which hot tub brand should you buy?

Updated October 2026

Lay-Z-Spa and Intex are the two names you see most when you search for an inflatable hot tub in the UK. We list 15 Lay-Z-Spa models and 4 Intex PureSpa models. This guide compares only those, using the Amazon.co.uk listings and the makers' pages as of 30 October 2026. We have not filled or tested any of them.

The brands at a glance

Two differences stand out. Lay-Z-Spa backs every tub with a 2-year guarantee, and Intex publishes none. Intex, on the other hand, tells you the heater wattage and the water volume, which lets you work out heating times. Lay-Z-Spa mostly does not.

Guarantee

A guarantee nobody publishes is not one you can rely on, so our score gives 0 points for it. That is the main reason Intex models score lower. You keep your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act with either brand.

Range and build

Lay-Z-Spa covers much more ground: plain inflatables (Miami, Paris), insulated liners (Rome, New York, Santorini, Maldives), a drop-stitch wall (Helsinki) and three foam-wall tubs (Carrara, Toronto, Stockholm). All four Intex models use a Fiber-Tech beam wall with an insulated cover. If you want a foam wall, only Lay-Z-Spa offers one of these two brands. See inflatable, foam or frame.

Which brand suits you?

Pick Lay-Z-Spa if you want a maker's guarantee, app control, a foam wall, or the widest choice of sizes. The Lay-Z-Spa Toronto (£700) is the highest-scoring tub on the whole site.

Pick Intex if you live in a hard water area, you want water jets at the lowest price (the Onyx at £316), or you want to know the heater wattage and water volume before you buy.

See every model on the Lay-Z-Spa brand page and the Intex brand page. For water jets across all brands, read our hydrotherapy jets guide.

Quick answers

Which brand heats faster? We cannot say for Lay-Z-Spa, because it does not publish heater wattage or water volume. Intex does, and our heating time guide works through its numbers.

Do both run from a 13 A plug? Neither brand confirms plug and play in the data we hold. Read what a 13 A plug can do and check the listing.
